Today is a Good Day!!

Hehe ... after watching the HOCC Live in Unity 2006 concert DVD ... M and I became little "fans" and went all over the places to look for her old CDs. Somehow, they were hard to come by ... and even at those 2 big chain stores, they only carry the latest two or three releases. Asked the gor gor at a record stores in TST, and he replied "yeah, tried to help another customer to look for her older CDs too from several sources but not able to find any".

Hmm ... wonder if she's suddenly so popular after the concert ... or just that they didn't print that many copies before. But in any case, finally found one (of her stage show) at the big chain online store ... ordered it ... but still wondering if they have in stock (because at some store in Tai Po, it was running at almost $400 ... so I would think people would be smart enough to check online also).

Today though ... we casually asked a few friends ... and lucky enough, was able to identify two CDs that we can borrow. B-gor was kind enough to call up his little sis right away to ask ... and A-gor gor will help to search thru his boxes (he just moved) for his.

Thank you ... thank you !! Much appreciated ...

Latest Purchases ...

Haven't really bought a lot of CDs for a while ... the last time (seriously to look for one) would probably be the time when Shirley Kwan was in concert ... which got me to buy her CDs after enjoying her show tremendously.

Over the CNY holiday ... I ended up getting a few ... at the end of the day, those annual award shows are indeed good promotional vehicles, haha.

I actually also want to buy the new Joey Yung one too ... but debating ... wondering if she'll have a greatest hits coming out soon. Of course, it is also because after getting those 6 CDs above, I kind of regretted getting half of them.

After watching 4 award shows between Dec and Jan, you just kind of wonder how things have changed from the 80s. Used to be each of those superstars will get multiple songs ... and the others would be lucky just to get one. Now, it seems like a "pig sharing" thing, and you just wonder how some of those "new" young singers can even be qualified to have a top 10 song (not that I'm saying all the new young singers are not good).

Out of all those young generation ones, I would only qualify a few as real singers ... Joey, Denise, and Eason. Of course, I think the 80s superstars are better ... Leslie, Anita, Shirley, Sandy, Jacky, Sally, Aaron ... to name a few. These days, those singers just don't practice enough ... and most don't sing with their heart. As HOCC said in her concert, used to be you have a concert at the Colliseum after you have demonstrated consistently for a long time ... and a concert there is like a time to "show off" what you've achieved. Nowadays, I cannot believe that those new singers can have a concert after 1 or 2 albums. Having said that, it's a regret that I didn't get to see Denise's ...

Well ... my next concert hopefully would be Olivia Newton-John on Apr 15. At $680 per ticket, it's still worth it.

Year of the Dog ...

It's been quite a few months since my last entry ... had been quite busy at work but then also busy with own personal stuff ... like cleaning my room and personal belongings (for Chinese New Year) ... catching up on my videos.

In recap, Year of the Dog was a good year although it was still a tough year. It was a "come back" year ... so I cannot really complain. However, I still felt quite sad at times because I guess ... sometimes when things are lost, they would never be gained back again.

Finally sold all my company's stock (well, almost all) ... the last batch was at $100.25 ... not too bad. Hmm ... but haven't decided where to invest the money though ... maybe will just put half of it into a risk free CD first, haha.

I also gained a "sister-in-law" ... and I have to say that wedding planning is really no small job eventhough I wasn't really involved in most of it. Will tell more in another entry later ... Wondering if any chance to get a little piglet this year ... haha.

Health wise, this is something that I need to watch out for this year ... those evening conference calls and late night sametime sessions are really starting to get weary. All the good people have gone or are leaving ... and not much job satisfaction anymore ... so it's time to move on.

The departure of my godmother brought out a lot of regrets. I wonder where she is right now ... is she watching over us? Wherever she is, I hope she's happy ...

Not really sure what I should expect in Year of the Pig ... I hope at some point, maybe I can find the time to do something I enjoy outside of work ... I mean, life is too short.
