Another Steakhouse

Went to Lawry's in Hong Kong (Lee Garden 1, 4/F) yesterday ... not too much expectation but turned out to be quite good ... definitely worth a visit ...

This month, will get a 15% discount (heard maybe more if 3 or 4 people or above) with your American Express card ... not sure if need to be Platinum though ...

P.S. Forgot to mention ... my friend ordered a sorbet ... and from the photo, you can see how "small" it is ... at about $30 ... order at your own risk ...

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween to me is not about trick-or-treat ... or parties ... or dressing up in a costume (never done that ... no intention to) ...

Halloween to me is a very expensive over US$300 speeding ticket on Fwy 55 ... plus 8 long hours of drivers ED training at the Newport courthouse ...

Definitely scary ...

Gray Hair

I have noticed that I have a lot more gray hair ever since that unfortunate event over a year ago ... the most annoying thing is that whereas all my normal hair are thick and black and wire-like and straight (enough to stand up on certain days) ... those gray ones are thick and white and wire-like but curly ... thus, they tend to stand-out quite easily.

Oh well ... I don't want to get colored this soon ... otherwise will only get more and more. Guess the only good thing (work-wise) is that people won't say I'm "young" anymore ...

Friday the 13th

Continuing from last entry ...

Went home and told Mom and Dad about the cake gift certificates deal ... handed over the certificates (all 21 of them plus individual envelopes) and the receipt of $729.60. At some point ... Mom yelled out ... that there's an extra envelope which I casually responded that they just probably counted an extra one by mistake.

Mom took both the receipt and certificates and came back with $$. Given that I already washed my hands (literally ... not figure of speech), I asked Mom to put the $$ into an envelope (just one from the pile of mail on my desk). Also asked Mom to give me back the gift certificates since I have to mail them with the invitation cards the next day. Mom gladly passed them to me ... with the coupons already inserted into the accompanying envelopes.

The next day ... found out Mom played a double trick on me ...

1. Turned out the $$ placed in the envelope is $703 ... not $730 ... hmm ...

2. Found out later (in the evening after being efficient and mailed out all the invitation cards with certificates) ... that Mom didn't take out the extra envelope (with no gift certificate) ... which I of course mailed out with one of the invitation cards. Wonder who's the lucky recipient ...

Alas ... after yepping at Mom (for quite a while) for not telling me about the empty envelope ... I took a shower ... went back to my room ... and then suddenly realized ... "today" was Friday the 13th ...

Blah-Blah-Bil-ly-Blah-Blah ...

Per "soon-to-be" sister-in-law's request, I stopped by Maxim Cake Shop in Central to get some cake gift certificates for inclusion in her wedding invitation. As soon as I stepped into the store, there's a lady there who started "blah blah bil-ly blah blah" non-stop for 60 seconds. I really didn't quite catch all she's saying ... but I figured that she's telling me all the new "cakes" plus promotions going on. When she finally stopped to take a breath, I quickly told her that I wanted to purchase cake gift certificates and asked her if there're any promotions going on. She then asked me how many I'm getting (which I answered 20), and she immediately "blah blah bil-ly blah blah" again for 30 seconds ... which again I didn't quite catch. Fortunately, I already called ahead and kind of knew what's available ... so I asked her if that included the 20% discount ... which she confirmed and smiled and asked if I want to go ahead and purchase. I smiled and said "yes", and she immediately referred me to a girl behind the counter ... and then off she went ... as quickly as she talked ...
